The MSc in Global Ecology and Conservation aims to train future ecologists and conservationists. It covers a wide range of topics, from ecological theory and pioneering research to practical site assessments and conservation interventions. The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to address major global challenges and make a tangible impact in the real world.
The MSc program addresses the key conservation issues affecting habitats worldwide. Students receive training in essential areas such as wildlife surveys, biodiversity assessments, and species management. They learn how to identify current and emerging threats to species and ecosystems and develop effective and scalable solutions to address these threats.
In addition to the core topics, students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of optional modules. These include Science Communication, Water and Life on Earth, and Frontiers in Biosciences. The program also offers a wide range of research project and coursework topics, allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific interests and career goals. Fieldwork is an integral part of several core modules, and students can also participate in the optional Field Research and Placement module, which includes an extended field course in the UK or overseas, as well as a professional work placement.
