Our history stretches back almost 200 years to the founding of the Leeds Mechanics institute in 1824. Since then, we have grown into one of the largest and most popular universities in the UK with more than 25,000 students studying across our 2 campuses in Leeds.
We offer a wide and diverse range of more than 150 undergraduate and 190 postgraduate courses in various subject areas, from Law and Sports to Arts and the Social Sciences. Our amazing facilities make Leeds Beckett University a fantastic place to learn. There's plenty to do in your free time at Leeds Beckett University, whether you want to join a society, go to a music gig, catch up with friends over coffee or play sports.
The Students' Union (SU) is dedicated to ensuring you have an amazing student experience. There are dozens of societies you can get involved with, from photography and cult TV to politics and psychology. SU also has a number of bars and live music venues for you to enjoy.
If you are interested in sport, the Carnegie Sports Centre offers an extensive range of sports facilities, from the athletics centre used by Olympic medal winners Jessica Ennis-Hill and Alistair Brownlee, to squash and tennis courts, a swimming pool and a 3G pitch.
At the Leeds International Study Centre (ISC) students can choose from a range of modern and comfortable accommodation, located close to the city centre and just a short walk away from the ISC.
For Leeds ISC students Leeds Beckett University provides student flats, housing three to six students in each, with shared kitchen and living facilities. In addition to the flats, CLV also provides one and two bedroom apartments and studies.
The University has two campuses in fantastic locations. Both are located in Leeds, one of the UK's most popular student cities, close to the ISC and everything this multicultural city has to offer.
Leeds is the third largest city in the UK, located in the north of England. It is compact and safe, so it’s easy to get around on foot – the ISC is located in the city centre, opposite the train station.
Leeds is the largest centre for banking and legal services outside of London. The city attracts global companies, people and entrepreneurs.
There is something for everyone to see and do in Leeds, from great shopping, bars and restaurants to lively music festivals, opera and theatre shows.
The city also has excellent transport links to York, Manchester, Liverpool and London.
