As the fifth oldest University in the UK, the University of Aberdeen combines ancient tradition with the best in modern teaching and learning facilities. It has a student population of over 14,000 and a large international community drawn from more than 120 different countries. Undergraduate students are able to choose from almost 370 first degree courses, and postgraduates can undertake supervised research in all departments of the University and choose from over 120 taught Masters degrees.
At Aberdeen, graduate employability is at the heart of what they do with an impressive 96.6% of graduates entering into work or further study within six months The University has an excellent reputation for teaching quality and research (the 2014 Research Excellence Framework results classed over 75% of the institution’s research as world leading or internationally excellent), and five Nobel Prize winners are associated with the University.

Aberdeen is a vibrant and exciting place to study, with the University being home to more than 14,500 students made up of over 130 different nationalities. As well as experiencing Scottish and British culture, students will be able to meet people from all over the world, providing a truly international student experience.
Outside of the classroom, Aberdeen boasts a wide range of fantastic sports and recreational facilities. The campus hosts the Aberdeen Sports Village, an Olympic-standard sports facility. Students can also choose from more than 50 sports clubs from its Sports Union.
Most University accommodation is on or within walking distance of the main campus. Students can also live in Hillhead Student Village which is a 20-minute walk away from King’s College Campus. There is a frequent bus service that connects all accommodation and campuses.
The University offers single study bedrooms which are mostly within five-bedroom flats. Bedrooms are both with en suite and standard facilities, offering a range of options to suit all budgets. Large traditional halls with a shared bathroom and kitchen are also available for students who want to experience the classic university shared accommodation.
Located on the north-east coast of Scotland, Aberdeen offers students the best of both worlds. Its vibrant city centre has a wide selection of restaurants, music, theatre and entertainment options to suit any interests.
Outside of the city, Aberdeen has lots of opportunities for students to get active. Close to many of Scotland’s famous lochs, there are plenty of hiking opportunities to choose from. The nearby beach is the perfect place for surfing – where students might even get the chance to see dolphins in the North Sea. Students in Aberdeen also benefit from it being one of the only places in the world to see the Northern Lights.
Aberdeen is easy to get to, with its own international airport only a fifteen-minute drive away from the University. Visiting other famous Scottish cities is also easy for students, with Edinburgh and Glasgow both only 2 hours 30 minutes away by train.
