Cultural life at Durham University

The International Study Centre is located on the Queen’s campus in Stockton-on-Tees. The campus has a large number of sports, cultural, leisure and social activities facilities, and there is room for students to relax. You can also try diving, rafting, jet skiing, and boating at the water sports centre opposite the campus. 

When you progress to your degree at Durham City, you will join one of the University’s 16 colleges. This historic collegiate system creates a strong sense of belonging and is one of the best aspects of student life at Durham University.

When you confirm your place, our accommodation team will recommend student accommodation in a safe and secure environment, with facilities shared with your new classmates.

Location and Infrastructure

You will study your degree at Durham City. The International Study Centre is located at Queen’s Campus in the town of Stockton-on-Tees (also called ‘Stockton’). Set beside the River Tees, Queen’s Campus has an excellent range of world-class facilities but is small enough to feel safe and welcoming.


Stockton has shops, restaurants bars and two shopping malls. Durham University has a partnership with the ARC arts venue here, which is home to two theatres, a cinema and a dance studio.
