The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) Graduate Certificate program (Program Code 1005) is designed for individuals who have already completed a background in speech, language, or hearing sciences and want to gain specialized, practical training to support professionals in the field of communication disorders. The program focuses on developing the knowledge and technical skills required to assist Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in delivering clinical services. Coursework generally includes studies in communication development and disorders, treatment techniques, hearing screening and amplification support, clinical documentation, and professional ethics. Students take part in applied learning through laboratory practice and supervised field placements, where they gain hands-on experience working with clients across age groups in settings such as hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centres, and private practices. Graduates are prepared to work under the supervision of regulated professionals, contributing to assessment and therapy programs that support clients with speech, language, and hearing challenges. Employment opportunities include educational, healthcare, and community service environments both within the public and private sectors.
