Master of Science - Medical Imaging - Computed Tomography

The MSc Medical Imaging is designed for qualified radiographers aiming to progress into enhanced or advanced practice roles within modern healthcare. Combining an industry-informed curriculum with research-led learning, the programme prepares students to integrate advanced imaging technologies, influence policy, and contribute to high-quality patient care across Scotland, the UK, and global healthcare systems.

The Computed Tomography (CT) pathway provides an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and practical skills in CT, supporting progression into advanced clinical roles. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of CT physics, image acquisition, and safe practice, with a focus on how these principles underpin accurate diagnosis and effective patient care.

Teaching integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical application, enabling students to apply evidence-based decision-making in their practice. As the programme progresses, learners are encouraged to link their clinical experience with academic theory, strengthening confidence and professional competence.

Practical learning is supported through the use of CT simulation software, allowing students to develop and refine their skills in a safe and controlled environment. Where available, short supervised placements provide additional opportunities to enhance clinical experience and understanding of real-world practice.

Flexible study options include a full-time route for UK and international applicants with at least two years of post-qualification experience, as well as a part-time option for UK-based professionals balancing work and study over three to five years.
