Program Description The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs. It aims to prepare students for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or for entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor degree.

The course consists of either a standard or extended track program. The standard track program consists of eight academic units: five core units and three elective units. The extended track program has an additional four units.

Various support services focusing on language, literacy and numeracy assistance are also available to help students in their studies. Each unit includes four hours of classes per week. Assessment for all units is continuous and includes tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final two-hour examination. To graduate from the Deakin College Foundation Program, students must complete and pass all eight units in the standard program or 12 units in the extended program.

Deakin College’s Diploma of Engineering is a broad introductory course that will prepare students with the skills and knowledge for a full spectrum of opportunities in the field. Students can choose to specialise in civil, electrical and electronics, environmental, mechanical or mechatronics engineering when they enter second year of their Deakin University bachelor degree.

In Deakin’s Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours) course, students will gain hands-on skills and experience to tackle modern engineering challenges in a changing world. They will also access the latest electrical and electronics engineering tools and application software in world-class, multi-million-dollar facilities. From renewable energy, power systems and high-voltage (HV) labs, to Deakin University’s 7MW microgrid facility with battery energy storage, visualisation and control centre, Students will learn everything they need to design, implement and test their big ideas. Discover what it takes to work in teams on industry led projects in this Engineers Australia accredited degree.

Students will learn similar software tools used by industry and work alongside experienced engineers through industry placement opportunities that enable them to be industry ready with a sound professional standing.

Covering the broad areas of electrical and electronics engineering disciplines, this course gives in-demand skills to pursue a range of careers. Students will use industry-standard tools in world-class facilities and learn from teachers who are active in the industry, so they always have the latest techniques and knowledge at fingertips.
