2-Semester Pathway - Pre-Master's Programme - Continue to Master of Science - International Sustainable Development

The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

Master of Science - International Sustainable Development: The Master of Science - International Sustainable Development will enhance both conceptual and practical understanding of international development with a specialisation in the areas of sustainability, resilience, disaster risks, inequality, security, migration and citizen engagement. This programme offers practical-based learning through industry-led projects. Students will engage with leading organisations and agencies to develop professional skills through the Collaborative Project, with options to undertake a dissertation or internship with industry. To help further enhance their employability, the Future Space Enterprise Hub offers additional support for engaging with partners, sourcing internships, and establishing start-ups and consultancies.
