The Medical Laboratory Assistant program equips students with skills for pre-analysis medical lab work under supervision in hospitals and clinics. Students learn blood sample collection, ECGs, laboratory equipment use, and medical terminology, while developing communication skills for patient interaction. Graduates can take the MLPAO and CSMLS certification exams. After two semesters of coursework, students complete an unpaid practicum for hands-on experience, integrating their skills in a supervised environment. Humber's community partnerships offer diverse practicum settings, including private clinics and hospitals. Clinical practicums are supervised by Humber experts, and on-campus simulations ensure learners practice and achieve proficiency in all certification competencies.
