English Language Preparation + 2-Term Pathway - International Foundation Year - Life Sciences - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Food Science and Nutrition

Program Description This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the University of Surrey International Study Centre followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Surrey. In your international foundation year you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon successful completion of the pathway program.

International Foundation Year

The Life Sciences International Foundation Year leads to a wide range of degrees in biology and chemistry-related subjects at the University of Surrey. During the International Foundation Year you will study a core unit of general subject skills, and subject-specific units, which are carefully designed for your academic development.

English Language Preparation

The English Language Preparation program is available for students who need to improve their English language skills in order to reach the required level for your programme at the University of Surrey International Study Centre. After successful completion of the English language programme, you will advance into your international foundation year.

Degree Program

Upon completion of the pathway portion of this program, students will enter the Veterinary Medical Science program at the University of Surrey. Food science is a multidisciplinary subject that applies sciences such as chemistry and biology to the study of food. The BSc Food Science and Nutrition course will give you an understanding of the raw materials that will become food, how they interact and how food science can have dramatic implications for human health and disease. Food safety also forms an important component of the course, as food can be a major source of disease-causing chemicals and microorganisms. The course will not only provide you with a thorough understanding of food composition and analysis, but will also give you a high standard of experience in nutrition and microbiology.

*Please note that Surrey offers two lengths depending on start dates, depending when students begin their International Foundation Year. 1 semester programme June, prior to starting the academic programme in September. 2 semester programme June, prior to starting academic programme in January
