Master of Arts - Fashion Communication (Professional Placement)

The MA Fashion Communication programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experience required to pursue careers in the fashion and beauty industries.

Students select one of three specialist pathways: Marketing, Cosmetics Branding and Marketing, or Styling and Creative Direction. Each pathway includes dedicated seminars within shared modules, allowing students to focus their research and creative outputs while collaborating with peers across the wider programme.

The first term provides a shared experience across all specialisms, enabling students to explore each pathway before confirming their chosen focus at the end of the term. During this period, students develop skills in analysing fashion and beauty campaigns, visual communication, technical production, and research methodologies.

In the second term, students apply these skills through collaborative and industry-focused projects aligned with their specialism. The final term centres on the development of a major project, preparing students for entry into professional practice. Specialisms are reflected through the work produced and the selection of briefs within both shared and optional modules.

The programme encourages active engagement with contemporary debates surrounding the fashion and beauty industries, including issues such as sustainability, diversity, and digital innovation. Students are supported in developing forward-thinking, creative responses to these challenges.

Across all pathways, the course emphasises storytelling, visual communication, and consumer insight to create impactful brand narratives. An international perspective is embedded throughout, encouraging students to reflect on their own cultural context while engaging in cross-cultural dialogue, preparing them to operate effectively within the global fashion and cosmetics landscape.
