Это описание есть только на английском языке.

When students join the University of Alberta’s Year One Foundation Program, they become U of A students from day one. They receive academic support that prepares them to enter a bachelor’s degree program in their second year, along with a “soft landing” to studying in Canada.

The University of Alberta’s Year One Foundation Program represents the first year of a four-year bachelor’s degree. It is designed for students who have course deficiencies and do not yet meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen degree program. Upon successful completion of the program, students progress directly into the second year without losing time on their path to graduation.

Why study this program? Applicants entering directly from high school must begin with a foundational/qualifying first year in Engineering. This first-year curriculum is designed to provide a strong academic foundation while introducing the wide range of opportunities within the field. Students build their academic capacity and begin to explore potential career paths in engineering.

First-year courses include calculus, chemistry, physics, linear algebra, mechanics, and computer programming, along with hands-on laboratories and interactive seminars. Students also complete two collaborative courses focused on the engineering profession and professional development (ENGG 100: Success in Engineering; ENGG 160: Introduction to Engineering Design, Communication, and Profession).

After completing the foundational/qualifying first year, students can enter one of several degree programs, choosing between traditional or co-operative (co-op) education pathways. Opportunities for sub-specialization are also available. Degree options include:

• Chemical Engineering • Civil Engineering • Computer Engineering • Electrical Engineering • Engineering Physics • Materials Engineering • Mechanical Engineering • Mining Engineering • Petroleum Engineering

Why study at the University of Alberta? The Faculty of Engineering is widely recognized as one of Canada’s top engineering schools, featuring globally respected professors, state-of-the-art laboratories and teaching spaces, and highly specialized research facilities.

Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience, participate in research, and contribute to team-based projects both inside and outside the classroom.

Located in the heart of western Canada’s energy and resources sector, the university maintains strong industry connections and offers exceptional work placement opportunities.
