2-Semester Pathway - Pre-Master's Programme - Continue to Master of Science - Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry

The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

Master of Science - Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry: The Master of Science - Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry is designed to meet the needs of industry and the United Kingdom science base by providing students with training in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug synthesis, methods to identify potential drug targets and drug candidates, and methods to assess the biological activities of drug compounds. The programme will give them the opportunity to specialise in this fascinating and vitally important field that focuses on the biochemistry, pharmacology, design, analysis and delivery of pharmaceutical substances, including the development of safe and effective drugs.
