Master of Laws - International Human Rights Law and Development with Solicitors Practice with Solicitors Practice is a unique and pioneering programme that provides a clearly defined and fully supported pathway to qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales.

In response to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) introducing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) as the new route to qualification, this LLM offers an innovative framework designed to prepare students for both SQE1 and SQE2 assessments.

At the centre of the programme are specialist preparatory modules — SQE1 Legal Theory & Solicitors Practice and SQE2 Legal Theory & Solicitors Practice — which provide individualised support and one-to-one guidance to help students perform successfully in the SRA’s assessments.

Alongside SQE preparation, the LLM delivers a rigorous and comprehensive legal education with a particular focus on human rights, social justice, and sustainable development. The course equips students with advanced legal knowledge as well as the analytical, practical, and transferable skills necessary for an impactful legal career.

The programme is taught by a dedicated team of academic experts and practising lawyers, all of whom bring extensive real-world and clinical experience to the classroom. Through their teaching, students gain the tools, insight, and confidence to become capable, reflective practitioners who are fully prepared for qualification as solicitors in England and Wales.

Throughout their studies, students work closely with staff in the Law Clinic, who offer national and international legal expertise and have practised both regionally and in the City. Participation in the clinic not only enhances employability but also contributes to the two-year Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) requirement set by the SRA as part of the solicitor qualification process.
