Master of Arts by Research - Law

The law staff team at the University of Gloucestershire (UoG) comprises individuals with diverse professional and research experience, united by a shared interest in international rights frameworks and legal transformation.

While each academic brings subject-specific expertise, there is a collective focus on the theory and application of human rights. For example, research within the team explores the interplay between human rights and areas such as sports governance, migration policy, and assisted reproduction. The team is committed to identifying, supporting, and developing research potential, and to promoting legal research as a force for positive change.

Postgraduate law researchers at UoG develop advanced doctrinal research and critical analysis skills, alongside opportunities to examine the application of law within society through qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches.

Through their research, postgraduate researchers are able to investigate and address contemporary legal issues. These practical and doctrinal applications equip them to contribute valuable and innovative insights to academic, professional, and policy communities.

There is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research, with opportunities to work across subject boundaries and explore the relationship between law and fields such as criminology, sociology, business management, and marketing.

The programme particularly welcomes postgraduate researchers and proposals that focus on the implementation and application of international human rights frameworks, as well as issues relating to equality, identity, individualism, and governance structures.
