A Library & Information Technician (LIT) manages daily operations of libraries, archives, and information centers. Under librarians, they organize, catalog, and retrieve information, provide patron services, manage collections, and use library software. This is an accelerated version of our Library & Information Technician program requiring prior education. The 12-month program prepares students for various library roles, focusing on essential operations and collaboration with librarians. They will learn to provide materials and services, and become skilled in acquiring and organizing diverse library materials using industry-specific software. This program is for those wanting a fast-paced, condensed summer semester: • May and June – First semester courses
• July and August – Second semester courses
• Fall semester – Third semester courses
• Winter semester – Fourth semester courses
Students will develop skills to:
• Deliver services like circulation, reference, interlibrary loan, and programs
• Find information from numerous sources
• Acquire, prepare, and organize all types of library materials
• Use library and information industry software
• Supervise circulation and acquisitions staff
• Promote libraries through material development and advocacy.
