Students can earn a Master’s in Psychology and prepare for careers in schools, mental health services, or other applied settings, or pursue studies at the PhD level. They learn to diagnose and treat mental health concerns, apply techniques to prevent mental illness, and promote overall well-being. Students also observe behavioural patterns that define normal and abnormal behaviour, examining how these patterns influence individuals socially, mentally, and physically.
The Master of Arts in Psychology program at Laurentian University combines coursework, a thesis, and a supervised field placement within mental healthcare settings under the guidance of a Registered Psychologist. The clinical practicum offers 400 hours of hands-on experience, allowing students to develop practical skills in assessment, counselling, diagnosis, and report writing.
