Social Service Workers assist clients in addressing personal and social issues by providing counselling, community services, and social support programs. Graduates of the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote well-being and foster positive change within individuals, families, and communities.
Highlights
• Two distinct field placement opportunities are tailored to each learner’s development and supported by a full-time field placement officer. • Hands-on experiential learning is achieved through case studies, video simulations, and small group discussions. • The program adapts to evolving practices in the social services field through an anti-oppressive framework. • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is available. • Graduates are prepared for membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the regulatory body that established the vocational learning outcomes for this program. • Program delivery is structured through a group supervision model that emphasizes regular attendance and active engagement in on-campus classes. • Information sessions offer opportunities to connect with current students, explore articulation agreements, and learn more about program activities and experiences.
