Graduates of this program will support individuals, groups, families and communities to become stronger, healthier and happier.
Program Highlights: • Complete 600 hours of supervised clinical placement. • Advocate for and get involved in social justice opportunities and become an anti-oppressive practitioner • Meet like-minded people and network with current professionals.
Learning outcomes: • Current theories, models and interventions used in social service agencies to build healthy, positive relationships and connections within communities. • Value of self-reflection and how to engage in critical self-awareness to increase student's ability to help others and respect the uniqueness and dignity of all people. • Develop core values of helping others such as the right to choose, the right to equality, justice and access to services. • Acquire helping skills such as interviewing, assessing the needs of others, working effectively with groups and assisting communities to change. • Understand how to document and work within legal, ethical and professional frameworks.
Fast Track allows students to complete a two-year Diploma program (non co-op) in 16 months. Students will study for the 16 months consecutively, without a summer break.
