Bachelor of Arts - Honours Arts and Business - Communication Arts and Design Practice (Co-op)

Program Description Honours Arts and Business is where the things students are passionate about intersect with business. Students can pick one of 29 majors — a subject they are curious about or something they have always loved — then layer on business classes that teach them the practical skills employers look for.

Students who would like their degree to be even more customized, they can add on a second honours major or a minor. Students can choose the regular system of study and finish in four years, or add 20 months of serious work experience to their resumes through co-op.

Students will learn to master interviewing skills, become adept at public speaking, and communicate effectively as a leader. Students will also study the dynamics of communication in their personal interactions, classrooms, workspaces, in their use of online and digital spaces, and more broadly in media and public communication. Over the course of their degree, students will hone their written and oral communication skills while developing expertise in teamwork, research, visual and digital literacy, and critical analysis — just the kind of skills that employers are hungry for. Choosing the co-op version will provide insights into possible careers and paid work experience along the way.

In the Communication Arts and Design Practice stream, students will enhance their knowledge and practice of effective communication with hands-on digital design projects and greater focus on visual communication and rhetoric. This major is a really good fit for students who are artistic and interested in careers in digital media design.
