Program Description Foundation Studies Program (Fast Track) - Physical Science (X0G:5) (0100809):

The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.

To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.

Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science - Business Analysis (93H): The double degree allows students to deepen their knowledge and expertise within two separate study areas. This means students can choose from University of Tasmania’s range of exciting, diverse courses and they can embark on a journey as unique as they are. The University of Tasmania’s science degree provides students with a foundation of core skills in science, analysis, and rational thinking. They have options to focus their studies in one or more scientific disciplines and learn the methods to apply their skills and knowledge to the practical needs of industry, business, and government in both scientific and non-scientific roles. The BICT is a specialist degree with both a theoretical and practical focus. It develops technological understanding and skills that are in high demand world-wide, plus builds project management and other business soft-skills that make students an ICT professional. Students get an opportunity to learn: • Introduction to Management provides students with an introduction to management concepts, functions and strategies. The unit then explores the context surrounding management functioning, including an analysis of the broad environment • Programming extends the students knowledge and experience of programming. It introduces dynamic data structures, foundational collection abstract data types, and computational algorithms and techniques. Programming is undertaken in Java and C and topics include: references and pointers • ICT Solutions Analysis for Business provides both a theoretical and a practical understanding of methods for evaluating the structure, policies, operations and technical capacities of organisations within their social and legal context. Students will gain an introduction to the role, knowledge and skills • In ICT System Acquisition and Integration students will be introduced to the key concepts and principles involved in the sourcing, integration and management of ICT assets as a key organisational resource. • Students also get an opportunity to learn Mobile Application Development, Data Analytics, Social and Cultural issues of Interactive Digital Media, Human Computer Interaction and Big Data and Cloud Computing.
