Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Commercial Photography

The BA (Hons) Commercial Photography offers a uniquely progressive and ethically responsible approach to the future of commercial photography practice and its associated industries. The programme develops the technical and professional skills required to work in the field while encouraging innovation beyond conventional commercial practices, enabling the creation of new visual languages that respond to the needs of contemporary and future-focused clients.

This degree is one of the few specifically commercial photography programmes in Britain that enables students to work professionally from the outset. Opportunities are provided to undertake commercial photographic work and integrate this experience into portfolio development throughout the course. Specialist mentoring supports the development of a professional identity, marketing and media skills, client engagement, pitch deck presentations, production and project management, effective communication, and the final presentation of work to clients or audiences.

The programme is delivered through a combination of practice-led workshops, lectures, seminars, tutorials, and national and international study visits. Throughout the course, students are supported by actively practicing and research-active photographic lecturers alongside industry professionals. Through intensive creative exploration and periods of informed risk-taking, graduates emerge as autonomous practitioners and independent professionals with distinctive approaches that set them apart within the industry.
