Master of Science - Management and Business Analytics (2 Year)

Program Description Nottingham Trent University's MSc Management and Business Analytics course introduces the student to the world of ‘big data’ and the impact it is having within businesses across the globe.

In their first semester, the student will shape their leadership and management skills to become an effective 21st century manager, gaining an excellent understanding of the core subjects, enabling them to put theory and contemporary thinking into practice.

During their second semester, the student will understand the value of business analytics within an organisation, its impact on decision-making and the problems faced in interpreting big data. The student will face practical challenges and focus on applying descriptive statistics to analyse real-world data. The student will be developing skills within:

• Quantitative methods for data analysis; • Understand the business analytics process; • Acquire the knowledge to identify machine learning models to predict uncertain events in a business environment;

Finally, in their third semester, the student will choose an experiential project. With the opportunity to use their skills in a real-world setting, they can choose from completing a consultancy experience project, an internship experience project, a business research project or a global experience project. This course has been awarded Dual Award status with the Chartered Management Institute, which means students can graduate with a Masters degree and a CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. If students opt for the two year route, they can add a year’s work placement onto their course. It’s a great way to put learning into practice and gain valuable real-world experience to help boost career prospects once graduating. The placement year will last up to 48 weeks (minimum 36 weeks). If students are unable to take a full year's placement, but have completed the minimum 36 weeks, they can qualify for a Placement Diploma in Industrial Experience. If students undertake a placement, they must take up the Business Research Project in Semester Three. Please be advised that this programme has a placement year.
