Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Games Art is a multidisciplinary, practice-led degree focused on developing creative and technical expertise for the games industry. Students build core 2D and 3D art skills across three key specialisms — Environment Art, Character Art, and Technical Art — while exploring both traditional and emerging technologies such as generative AI. This course emphasises a “games first” approach that integrates concept development, prototyping, production pipelines, UX/UI design, and games culture. Through team projects and collaborative learning, students gain experience with professional workflows, game engines, and industry-standard tools, preparing them for a range of roles in game development and related creative sectors. Graduates leave with a strong portfolio, refined technical and artistic abilities, and transferable skills in teamwork, problem solving, and entrepreneurship. The Integrated Foundation Year serves as an introduction to the creative and technical principles that underpin games art and animation. Students develop an understanding of core design elements — line, shape, colour, value, form, texture, and space — and explore how these fundamentals apply to digital contexts. Throughout the year, learners gain hands-on experience with digital software and applications used in design, games, and user interaction. The curriculum encourages research, ideation, critical thinking, reflection, and clear presentation of creative concepts. Students also study the foundations of digital games and animation, examining current tools, technologies, and innovations, alongside an introduction to the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence (AI) in creative production.
