Program Description Foundation Studies Program (Fast Track) - Physical Science (X0G:5) (0100809):

The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.

To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.

Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science - Molecular Bioscience (93H):

The double degree allows students to deepen their knowledge and expertise within two separate study areas. This means students can choose from University of Tasmania’s range of exciting, diverse courses and they can embark on a journey as unique as they are.

The University of Tasmania’s science degree provides students with a foundation of core skills in science, analysis, and rational thinking. They have options to focus their studies in one or more scientific disciplines and learn the methods to apply their skills and knowledge to the practical needs of industry, business, and government in both scientific and non-scientific roles.

The BICT is a specialist degree with both a theoretical and practical focus. It develops technological understanding and skills that are in high demand world-wide, plus builds project management and other business soft-skills that make students an ICT professional.

Molecular Bioscience looks at life from inside out. Students will explore how living organisms function from both a molecular and cellular perspective. This major provides an essential basis for detailed understanding of biology and medicine.

Students get an opportunity to learn about Biology of Plants, Biology of Animals, Cell Biology, Genetics and Evolution, Biochemistry: Metabolism & Nutrition, Molecular Biology in Health & Disease, Human Genetics, Biomolecular Approaches to Medical Research, Systems-based Approaches to Medical Research, Advanced Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Applied Genetics and Biotechnology.
