3-Term (Extended) Undergraduate Foundation Program - Life Sciences - Continue to - Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Archaeology

The Undergraduate Foundation Program in Life Science program is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Lancashire.

The Foundation portion of this program lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

There are four academic pathways to choose from and candidates will study the pathway most suited to their chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare them for university study. The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Life Sciences.

Archaeology is a multidisciplinary practical degree. It produces graduates with sought-after transferable skills, including critical analysis, communication and team working. From week one, the students will be in the field learning these skills on a real archaeological excavation and will examine and interpret various evidence from human remains, Palaeolithic stone tools, Anglo-Saxon jewellery and the latest ancient DNA evidence.
