Human Resource Management involves the effective management of an organization’s most important resource, its human resources (HR). Professionals in this field are responsible for various key organizational components such as compensation, benefits, training and development, staffing, strategic HR management, and other HR functions.

The Human Resource Management track at Murray State University has received recognition and endorsement from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) for providing the necessary competencies for success in the HR field and preparation for the professional assessment exam offered by SHRM. The academic program is enhanced by SHRM affiliations with a student chapter, professional chapter, and faculty members connected to national SHRM and international human resource management standards bodies.
