Theory and applications of safety standards, building codes, blueprint reading, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship practices are studied. They learn to interpret the Ontario Building Code as it applies to renovations and new construction.
The Carpentry and Renovation Techniques certificate provides graduates with a wide range of career opportunities in the construction and renovation industries. Graduates find success as employees in residential, commercial, and industrial construction, as well as in renovation-focused roles. Potential career paths include general carpenter, framer, formwork carpenter, renovator, stair builder, and trim carpenter.
Graduates are eligible for apprenticeship credits toward the General Carpentry 403A apprenticeship program through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
