Today’s employers often look for those with skills in more than one discipline. In addition, organizations frequently require employees to seek additional schooling to improve their performance or advance to higher-level positions. For these reasons, GCC’s Individualized Studies program is designed for those who are seeking immediate employment after graduation. Students will determine their specific career goals, and with the assistance of their advisor and other staff, create a unique sequence of courses to achieve their goals. Upon successful completion of an AAS in Individualized Studies program, the graduate will be able to: • Apply effective oral communication skills in various contexts. • Write effectively in various contexts. • Solve college-level mathematical problems. • Demonstrate competency in the use of various computer applications. • Apply the scientific method to a problem related to a social science discipline. • Apply the scientific method to a problem related to a natural science discipline. • Describe the importance of particular historical events in an American, international, or global context.

Upon successful completion of the Solar Electric Technician program, the graduate will be able to: • Install solar electric (photovoltaic) systems applying nationally accepted industry standards. • Maintain solar electric systems applying nationally accepted industry standards. • Test and adjust solar electric systems using nationally accepted industry standards. • Safely and accurately diagnose common malfunctions for solar electric equipment. • Perform corrective repairs for solar electric equipment.
