University of Essex - Colchester Campus
Это описание есть только на английском языке.
Genome sequencing is revolutionizing the field of medicine. The ability to sequence and analyze the genome of individuals in a fast and inexpensive manner, provides an unprecedented level of genetic information associated to health and disease. The data processing of such levels of information is challenging, and requires specialized skills in genomics, health and data analysis.
The University of Essex MSc Data Analytics in Health Genomics will train students to analyze genomic data in connection with health and disease. Students will explore how genome sequences are analyzed, and they will receive hands-on experience in data analysis. Students will also study gene and genome technologies, as well as have the opportunity to develop their professional skills. MSc Data Analytics in Health Genomics will cover the following topics, amongst others: gene technologies and general genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology, data analysis and computing programming, state-of-the-art genome-wide analysis techniques, and statistical analysis of biomedical data. As one of the largest schools at Essex university, they offer a lively, friendly and supportive environment with a research-led study and high quality teaching. Students benefit from the academics’ wide range of expertise and research on important national and international problems using cutting-edge techniques. The course is directed by Dr Antonio Marco and Dr Radu Zabet. Dr Marco is a geneticist working on population genomics and the computational design of DNA-based drugs. Dr Zabet is an expert in chromatin and epigenetics focused on gene regulation and epigenetic changes in diseases. Other teaching staff include members of our Genomics and Protein groups. Personalized medicine is becoming a priority for health providers and governmental agencies around the world. Studying MSc Data Analytics in Health Genomics will enable students to be a part of the next generation of healthcare providers, equipped with the necessary skills in health data analytics and genomics to make a real difference. Potential career paths include: genomics consultant, health data analyst, genomic diagnostic specialist and scientist/researcher in health genomics.
