Community nursing plays an increasingly vital role in modern healthcare, as services shift towards more community- and home-based care. The MSc Community Nursing programme is designed for registered nurses who are committed to delivering person-centred and family-focused care across a wide range of community settings.
This postgraduate course supports all four fields of nursing and reflects the expanding scope of community nursing roles. It equips students with advanced knowledge, practical skills, analytical thinking, and leadership capabilities needed to manage complex health and social care challenges effectively.
The programme offers flexibility through both full-time and part-time study options, allowing it to be tailored to individual professional needs and areas of practice. Students study a range of modules covering topics such as advanced health assessment, public health, leadership, digital health technologies, ethics, and research. There are also opportunities to focus on specialist areas relevant to practice, including diabetes, sexual health, palliative care, and heart failure.
Graduates of the MSc Community Nursing programme develop the confidence and autonomy required to lead change and improve outcomes within the community sector. The course prepares them for roles in clinical practice, leadership, and further research, supporting the development of a responsive and resilient health and social care system.
