Postgraduate Diploma - Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting)

Building on your existing knowledge, abilities, and experience, your educational path involves personal and professional development in a nurturing and student-centered atmosphere.

This course, which has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, prepares students for master's-level coursework after they successfully complete their dissertation. It also registers them as specialists in community public health nursing (health visiting) on Part 3 of the register and records them as community prescribers. Students will get public health leadership skills to help them to contribute to the modern health visiting agenda, as well as public health practice knowledge and abilities to work with individuals, families, and communities in an effective manner.

Developing as a responsive, resilient, and adaptable practitioner who can adapt to the changing health and social care environment is important. Students concentrate on quality improvement and how leadership abilities and traits can influence the achievement of sustained change within SCPHN practice. In a health visit setting, students look at the family's and child's medical needs, safeguards, and surveillance, and they prescribe based on the community practitioner's formulary.

This course is practice-focused, covering 50% theory and 50% practice. To offer a clinical placement, they need to have an agreement and contract with a health trust, the local government, or an employer. their sponsoring organisation assigns students a practice assessor who is in charge of evaluating your competency and assisting you with learning in practice.
