What you will study

Master of Arts (MA) in Communication Studies program seeks open-minded students to explore media, communication, and culture in a supportive environment. It examines the interplay of power and communication, providing advanced training in core theories and methodologies while engaging with contemporary research themes. This program feature Interdisciplinary degree with expertise in areas like alternative media, cultural industries, digital cultures, global media, health communication, media history, mobilities, popular music, social media, and visual communication. The MA program offers a Co-operative Education option, allowing students to gain paid employment and professional experience in non-profits, the public sector, community groups, and creative industries. Co-op students are encouraged to pursue roles that align with their research interests. This competitive co-op option is available to full-time students, who complete coursework in fall and winter (September to April), undertake their co-op work term in spring/summer (May to August), and write their major research paper or thesis in the following fall semester (September to December), typically finishing all MA requirements in about 16 months.
