Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Interior Architecture (W200)

The BA (Hons) Interior Architecture at the University of West London takes a holistic approach to interior architecture, enabling students to expand their digital skills and professional knowledge in key areas such as styling, construction and lighting design. Rather than simply designing a room, students will develop the knowledge and skills to create immersive, interactive experiences that appeal to the senses.

As well as preparing students for the demands of contemporary clients, the course will develop their ability to manage themselves and others. Students will be encouraged to assemble design teams, handle group dynamics and develop project management skills, all of which are essential for a career in the interior design industry.

The course also encourages the development of independent problem-solving and leadership skills that are widely transferable in the job market.

Students will be taught by tutors with practical experience as interior designers, who will support their creative ambitions and help them reflect on practical issues such as methodology, prototyping and pitching solutions to real interior design challenges.

Students will learn how to:

• understand contemporary and historical approaches to interior and spatial design • develop organised critical research skills using relevant resources and appropriate methods of analysis • make ideas a reality using material and technological solutions • respond to a variety of authentic client briefs • establish a network of linked business and creative professionals • work collaboratively toward shared goals • engage both specialist and non-specialist audiences

Through talks and workshops with guest speakers, students will also have opportunities to gain professional insight and build confidence in their abilities.
