University of Lethbridge - Lethbridge

What you will study

With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management or a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Management degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing.

English is not just about the rhetorical and creative aspects of literature. It’s about examining history, culture, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and the human condition to determine what a text means in the context of when and where it was written, and how it relates to people today.

Language is the primary means by which people communicate their values, ideals, and vision. The study of English asks fundamental questions about literature and how people express themselves and interact with others. It is the science of communication and critical inquiry.

Students will learn how people use language in the world at large, and consider the functions, structures and significance of literature over time. Students will develop an excellent foundation for a career in virtually any professional capacity due to the cross-disciplinary nature of this program.

Management is leading others to accomplish common goals in business. Today’s managers are people oriented, creative, adaptable and strong communicators. They have to know how to deal effectively with rapidly changing environments, work successfully with small and large teams, live and work by principles of ethics and social responsibility and be aware of responsibilities to sustainability.

General management students study topics such as marketing, organizational behavior, introductory accounting, managing responsibly in a global environment, human resources management, policy and strategy and probability and statistics. They draw from fields such as history, English, political science, economics and sociology.
