What you will study

Classics explores the languages and literatures of the ancient Greeks and Romans. The reading of such works since the Middle Ages has had a profound influence on German literary culture.

On this joint honors program, students will have the opportunity to gain professional skills in all aspects of German, including writing, speaking, presenting, and translating.

Students will have the chance to explore German-language literature, film, and theatre, all within the context of historical and political developments from the eighteenth century to contemporary times. They will have the opportunity to engage with significant works that demonstrate the classical influence, such as those by the great German writers Goethe and Schiller.

Students have the option to choose a Greek, Latin, or non-language pathway through their study of Classics. They will delve into the highly influential scholarship and literature of the classical world.
