Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Mathematics and Computer Science with Industrial Year (GGD4)

On the BSc Mathematics and Computer Science with Industrial Year, students will challenge themselves to study a wide range of subject areas, developing their critical thinking and independent learning skills. Students will learn how the worlds of mathematics and computer science work seamlessly together as they combine their passion for both subjects.

Depending on their interests, students can choose to specialise in areas such as statistics, algebra, robotics and machine learning, all key areas which have a huge impact on the lives today. The fourth year sees students take on an in-depth research project to explore their chosen area more fully. Students will leave equipped with highly-sought after skills, easily standing out in the competitive job market and ready to confidently take on their chosen career.

Whether students decide to delve into the world of statistics, or explore the exciting developments in robotics and AI, this MSci Mathematics and Computer Science programme will help them learn to apply analytical, statistical, computational and programming skills to formulate and tackle problems. Mathematicians use computers to solve complex equations, analyse large data sets and even to prove theorems. Computer scientists use mathematics to design efficient compression algorithms, to understand the semantics of programming languages and for the theory behind internet security systems.
