Students can develop the knowledge, skills and judgement needed to become a self-regulated health professional. A large part of their training will include hands-on clinical practice. Students work with clients from the community on-site in Canadore College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic, where they offer free dental hygiene services as they put their clinical theory into practice. Graduates are in high demand, finding employment in dental offices, hospitals, and research institutes. This program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
Students will learn: • Oral anatomy • Principles of radiography • Microbiology • Periodontics • Pharmacology • Orthodontics for dental hygienists
Future Careers: • Private practice • Community health services • Hospitals • Collective living centres • Research and teaching institutes
