Advanced College Diploma - Computer Engineering Technology (ECT) (Optional Co-op)
Seneca Polytechnic - Newnham Campus
What you will study
Through this intensive three-year advanced diploma program, students will gain a solid foundation, combining the three primary branches of information and communications technology: electronics, software development and IT infrastructure.
Seneca College incorporates curriculum content from a number of internationally known organizations, including CompTIA and Cisco. In addition, professors have strong ties with major tech companies, including Microsoft, Bell, Rogers, Keysight Technologies and Freescale Semiconductors, to help students gain exposure to current industry practices and build a network prior to graduation. As a graduate of this program, their knowledge of both relevant equipment and its use will enhance career opportunities in the computer and information technology fields.
Seneca College’s electronics and engineering diploma programs (including Electronics Engineering Technician and Electronics Engineering Technology) have the first semester in common, allowing for easy transfer between programs before second year.
Throughout this program students will develop the following skills: • Write computer programs • Programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java and Python • Computer hardware assembly and troubleshooting • Computer network design, installation and support • Cisco router implementation
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional co-op work term(s) in a formal work environment. In most cases the work term(s) is a full-time paid position completed between two academic semesters.
