Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Business Management (Placement Year)

The BA (Hons) Business Management with Placement Year is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and offers an additional professional qualification alongside the degree, as well as access to professional mentoring and CMI member benefits.

The course provides a strong foundation in understanding organisations, management practices and the global environments in which businesses operate, while developing innovative thinking and practical management skills. Students are encouraged to apply their learning to real-world business and management scenarios through projects, placements and internships, ensuring a balance between academic study and practical experience. The programme prepares graduates for careers in a rapidly changing global business environment by fostering agility, innovation, resilience, self-directed learning and effective teamwork.

A strong international perspective is embedded through collaboration with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, both in classes and through joint projects with overseas partner universities, enabling a deeper understanding of how cultural contexts influence business practices. An optional placement year between the second and third years allows students to apply their skills in a professional environment, gain valuable industry experience, build networks and enhance employability, with support provided throughout the placement period. Alternatively, internships can be undertaken during summer breaks. Teaching is delivered through a varied and engaging mix of formal lectures, tutor-led and student-led seminars, one-to-one and small group tutorials, work experience and consultancy projects, and self-directed study.

In the final year, students complete a Business Consultancy Project, applying project management and research skills to address a real business challenge, providing valuable experience and building professional confidence.
