What you will study

The BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Food Management at the University of West London prepares students to lead effectively in an ever-evolving sector, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to tackle current and future industry challenges.

Nutrition and food management techniques continue to evolve as understanding of food science advances. As such, food-related research is a key part of the course, with the curriculum including topics such as:

• nutritional analysis to develop plant-based menus • processing techniques to provide optimum nutrition in restaurants, schools, hospitals and nursing homes • new product development and sensory analysis of new products using novel ingredients • sustainable food production techniques, including solutions to zero food waste and energy-efficient food production

During the course, students will have access to food entrepreneurs and industry professionals who are part of the West London Food Innovation Lab Network.

Additionally, students will use a knowledge base developed with the Institute of Food Science and Technology.

The final year dissertation project will give students the opportunity to develop a professionally presented piece of work that demonstrates their abilities in critical thinking.

Students will receive a free uniform for kitchen-based sessions, and lab coats will be supplied for laboratory sessions.
