Overview
Master of Laws - International Banking and Financial Technology Law with Solicitors Practice is the first programme of its kind, offering a clear and supported career pathway to qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the professional body responsible for solicitor training and qualification, has introduced the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) as the new route to qualification. This LLM programme aligns with that route and provides a distinctive pathway designed to prepare students for the SQE.
The programme includes specialist preparatory modules—SQE1 Legal Theory & Solicitors Practice and SQE2 Legal Theory & Solicitors Practice—that offer individualised support and guidance to ensure students perform effectively in both the SQE1 and SQE2 assessments administered by the SRA.
In addition to SQE preparation, the LLM delivers a rigorous legal education, providing an in-depth grounding in practical legal and transferable skills. It develops legal, academic, and clinical competencies throughout all stages of study.
The programme is delivered by academic experts and practising lawyers who integrate real-world clinical legal experience into the teaching framework. Their expertise equips students to graduate as capable and reflective practitioners, fully prepared for qualification as solicitors in England and Wales.
Students benefit from working closely with staff in the Law Clinic, where they engage with professionals who possess national and international legal experience, having practised both regionally and in the City. This experience not only enhances employability but also contributes to the two-year Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) required by the SRA for solicitor qualification.
