The Nutrition and Dietetics course is accredited by both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA). This accreditation enables graduates to apply for registration as dietitians and ensures they are equipped with the professional qualities, skills, and knowledge required to become proficient and competent nutrition professionals.
Dietitians apply the science of nutrition to improve health and manage diseases and medical conditions by providing practical, personalised advice and education to clients, patients, carers, and colleagues. They work in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and ethnicities. Graduates of the course go on to pursue careers in the NHS, public health, the food and drink industry, medical nutrition, sports nutrition, and the media, or choose to advance into further study, academia, or research.
This degree combines research-led, evidence-based teaching with simulation, service user participation, and clinical placements to provide students with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes required to become autonomous, competent, and compassionate dietitians. The course is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of registered dietitians, nutritionists, bioscientists, and physiologists, all of whom have extensive experience in clinical dietetics, nutrition, the food industry, public health, biosciences, and sport and exercise. The programme also maintains strong links with local NHS healthcare providers to ensure that course content remains current, with up-to-date, practical knowledge shared by highly specialist dietitians actively working in clinical practice.
Prospective students are strongly encouraged to attend a Dietetics Awareness Event to gain further insight into the profession and what the course entails.
