Master of Health Administration (MHA)
Fairleigh Dickinson University
What you will study
The management degree is designed to prepare leaders for the healthcare sector.
This program is intended for individuals working in the healthcare industry who seek to advance their careers in administration and aspire to become Directors, Senior Managers, or Chief Officers.
Fairleigh Dickinson University’s legacy is deeply connected to the healthcare industry. Its namesakes, Fairleigh S. Dickinson and Maxwell Becton, co-founded a regional pharmaceutical and medical technology company. The University is one of only two degree-granting pharmacy schools in New Jersey and was the first in the state to be affiliated with a private university. FDU maintains long-standing partnerships with healthcare organizations throughout New Jersey, which continue to welcome FDU pharmaceutical, public health, nursing, MBA health services, and MPA healthcare management students and graduates.
The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program was developed in consultation with and is taught by healthcare management leaders and industry partners. It emphasizes both the practical and theoretical dimensions of healthcare administration, encompassing areas such as law, ethics, and policy for health and human services; finance and accounting; organizational and risk communications; technology; and human resources.
Program Goals • Provide master’s-level studies for working professionals seeking advancement in healthcare administration. • Develop leadership skills essential to succeed in healthcare management. • Establish a strong intellectual foundation in the core areas of healthcare administration. • Introduce students to current topics and emerging trends within the field. • Build research abilities and analytical skills. • Offer an immersive, hands-on learning experience. • Encourage innovation and the application of best practices.
The MHA program features a project-based curriculum that emphasizes group collaboration, problem-solving, and the development of a professional portfolio. Students engage in coursework designed to integrate the experiences of accomplished practitioners with academic expertise, providing a balance between theory and real-world application. Through this approach, students work together to develop recommendations, design solutions, and conduct collaborative research.
The traditional weeknight program is offered at the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck and is available in multiple formats, including in-person, Zoom, asynchronous online, and hybrid modalities.
