What you will study
Students can enter at either Year 0 (University Foundation) with the Undergraduate Pathway in Computing. Students are guaranteed progression to the second year of their chosen degree, providing that they meet the progression criteria. Year 0 takes place in ICP using dedicated lecturers and benefits from small class sizes. Year 1 takes place in the University of Portsmouth directly, supported with tutorials at ICP.
BSc (Hons) Computer Science
In this BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree, students will study all aspects of computer science, from software and hardware to information processing and computer security.
Year 1 of the degree gives students a grounding in core concepts of computer science such as programming, networking and operating systems, providing a solid foundation for your later studies and career.
In years 2 and 3 students will study more advanced concepts in areas including software engineering and algorithm design. They'll have the opportunity to choose modules that match their interests and ambitions and explore the latest boundary-pushing technology such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
Students can apply their knowledge in industry or set up their own business on an optional year-long full-time paid placement between years 2 and 3.
The content of this course is shaped by the latest computer science research and input from industry professionals. So students will be ready to apply their knowledge and skills to a career working with the most recent advances in computing after they graduate.
