Overview

Genesee’s Fine Arts program aims to inspire students' creativity, immerse them in experiential learning and showcase their talent. At the same time, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to continue their education and succeed in B.A. or B.F.A. programs. The faculty members place a high priority on the development of conceptual knowledge, design techniques, studio skills, creative thought and professional discipline. They are also committed to helping students pursue their individual interests and develop their unique talent. Each student develops a quality portfolio of artwork to be used for career and transfer options. Upon successful completion of the AS Fine Arts program, graduates will be able to: • Create 2-dimensional artwork utilizing the elements and principles of design. • Create 3-dimensional artwork utilizing the elements and principles of design. • Apply critical analysis skills in the evaluation of artwork. • Identify historical styles within the field of visual art. • Apply professional art techniques in the development of artwork. • Identify and describe the impact of visual art on society. • Develop a professional quality portfolio of artwork that exemplifies the student’s scope of skills
