What you will study

The BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy (Humanistic Approaches) with Foundation Year equips students to respond effectively to the growing societal demand for mental health support, placing graduates at the forefront of transforming lives through counselling and psychotherapy. This programme extends beyond academic study, fostering professional and personal development.

Academically, the course provides a strong foundation in humanistic theories of counselling and psychotherapy, alongside the development of core skills in critical analysis and reflective practice. Professional counselling skills are honed through a 100-hour clinical placement, enabling eligibility to register as a counsellor with regulatory bodies such as the BACP.

On a personal level, the course supports the development of self-awareness, confidence, and relational understanding, skills that are transferable across any role or context involving interaction with people.

Students benefit from teaching delivered by practising counsellors and psychotherapists, alongside access to specialist facilities including counselling suites, within a curriculum grounded in a humanistic approach.
