Canadore College - Commerce Court
The Mechanical Techniques – Precision Machining program at Canadore College offers intensive, hands‑on training for students interested in working with advanced manufacturing and metal‑cutting technologies. This two‑semester Ontario College Certificate program provides the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to operate precision machining equipment and produce high‑quality components used in a variety of industries.
Students learn the principles of machining, blueprint interpretation, measurement and metrology, machine tool operation, and computer numerical control programming. The curriculum emphasizes precision workmanship, safety, and process efficiency while developing strong problem‑solving, mathematical, and technical communication skills.
Through practical training in fully equipped machine shops, learners gain experience using both conventional and CNC machining equipment under the supervision of experienced instructors. The program provides a solid foundation for entry‑level employment or further study in advanced manufacturing, tool and die making, or mechanical engineering technology.
Graduates are prepared for careers as machinists, CNC operators, toolmakers, or mechanical technicians in industries such as aerospace, mining, automotive, and custom manufacturing.
