Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Accounting and Finance (with Foundation Year)
University of Chester - Gateway House, Chester
What you will study
The combined 4 year programme allows students with lower academic marks, or whose qualifications are not equivalent to British A Levels, to gain the necessary qualifications to proceed to undergraduate study. After completing the Foundation Year, students will be eligible to progress to a number of University of Chester undergraduate programmes. At the University of Chester, they put students' future career in Accounting and Finance at the heart of their course, with inspiring, professionally orientated learning experiences. Students will develop all of the skills and knowledge for a high flying career in accounting, finance or in a broader business role. Recent graduates have secured accountancy and business roles in a variety of organisations including large accountancy firms such as PWC and Deloittes, global corporations and the public sector.
The transformation from student to professional accounting graduate begins here. Students will develop professional, in demand, accounting and finance skills through practical application and real business experiences. The course is accredited by ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA and students will secure major exemptions from the examinations of these key professional accounting bodies as they progress. This ensures that once students have graduated, it will take them less time to become qualified as an accountant.
Student membership of CIMA is provided and all students can undertake a standalone CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting at the end of first year. This is an opportunity for students to be awarded a professional qualification before even leaving university. Graduates are also eligible to become a member of AAT once they have acquired the relevant experience.
