What you will study
Students can study the Master of Engineering (Professional) and develop the research, technical and problem-solving skills to design and implement engineering projects as part of a professional team. Throughout this degree they will acquire advanced engineering skills and the forward-thinking and entrepreneurial skills employers are looking for. Students will strengthen and extend their understanding of engineering through the pursuit of specialized study.
The course focuses on practical hands-on learning, and research and professional practice skill development. Students will undertake industry-led or research-based projects to strengthen the application of engineering knowledge whilst extending their understanding through specialized study. They will also have the opportunity to combine electives and gain a second specialisation. Students will choose from areas such as engineering management and learn how to influence business decisions.
As an engineer with professional practice skills, students will develop the capacity to operate in dynamic and diverse environments. They will also develop the ability to deal with a variety of organizational, technical and behavioral interactions, and manage rapid changes in technology, markets, regulations and socioeconomic factors. This unique set of skills will set them apart from their peers.
Students will have world-class facilities and equipment at their fingertips with access to Deakin University’s state-of-the-art engineering precinct and the Geelong Future Economy Precinct (GFEP). This is home to the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM), Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI), CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering and the Australian Future Fibre Research and Innovation Centre.
